What is circle time ?
It’s common for early childhood education to have a circle time. This is where toddler and preschool students gathers students in a circle. As a teacher I use different interactive activities. Circle Time helps build a classroom community. It also helps student build social skills. As a teacher, leading circle time a great opportunity to connect with your students. It’s one of my favorite times of day in my classroom.
I like to focus on a different development area each day, Remember to keep it short sweet and fun. Young preschoolers are filled with energy! So, give them engaging activities like the one’s below.
Feed the love bug game – Valentine’s Day Preschool Activities
This Valentine’s Day Preschool Activity is a great way for your preschool students to work on letter recognition. You’ll love this feed the love bug game because it’s low prep. You’ll want to cut up the heart themed letter cards. You can grab a basket and have student’s grab the letters from the basket.
As your students pick up the card ask them what letter they see? For younger students you can say the letter for them and have them repeat after you. Then you can instruct them to the feed the love bug. You can make a fun sound like munch munch as they feed the love bug.
To make this Valentines preschool activity more advanced i suggest having students say the letter sound. You can even have your preschool students name things that start with that letter sound. Click here to grab yours.
Five little Love Bugs – Valentine’s Day Preschool Activities
If your looking for a fun way to practice counting skills with your preschoolers check this out. Counting songs will help your preschool to develop a familiarity with number sounds and words Counting songs are fun and interesting to a young child.
This five little love bugs is great activity for adding to your Valentine’s Day Preschool circle time Activities. I suggest cutting out these little love bugs and laminating. I added them to popsicles for my students to count along as we sing.

I’ve included another fun counting song with this Valentine’s Day Circle Time Activities. 10 little Valentines song is great for worker on early math pattern recognition. This simple preschool activity is low prep. I suggest laminating the song and valentine’s. When laminate it i can use it from year to year. Click here to grab yours.
Color Hearts Props-Valentine’s Day Circle Time
Next, I like to use props during my circle time. Sometimes i find items at places like goodwill and amazon. I use a bee puppet when singing im bringing home a baby bee. Another example of prop I use is, I also use printable props because thier low cost and easy to do.
I created these heart circle time props for my valentines circle time. My students stay engaged because it something that they can hold. I suggest cutting these hearts out and placing them on popsicle sticks. These heart circle time props come with both English and Spanish spelling of color words.
Rose Props-Valentine’s Day Circle Time
I also made a rose color matching props. Each rose comes in different colors so you can use them to practice color recognition. Just like with the hearts I suggest hot gluing them on popsicle sticks so your students have something to hold.
